John Hennessey, owner of Hennessey Performance, recently took a spin in the new 2017 Ford Raptor. As Hennessey Performance is known for making fast cars even faster, John wanted to show off the base line performance of the truck. We’ve seen a few 0-60mph tests so far, but John was able to do the run in 5.3 seconds on a drag strip. This is incredible performance out of a factory 4×4 truck. We can only image what Hennessey Performance and other aftermarket vendors will be able to achieve with tuning and a few bolt on parts.
What’s even more significant about this? We researched a few other trucks to see what type of performance we could find in this range. The Dodge Ram Quad Cab SRT10 was produced from 2004-2006. Keep in mind, this is an extended cab style truck, not a full crew cab. It featured a 8.3 liter V10 with 500HP, shared from the Dodge Viper. It was a 2wd. It hit 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. The 2017 Ford Raptor, with a V6 Twin Turbo EcoBoost producing 450HP, is able to outrun this truck all while having much more room in the back seats, a full long travel suspension system, four wheel drive, and large heavy tires. Even crazier? The Dodge Ram Quad Cab SRT10 had a base price of $50,850, which is higher than the base price of the 2017 Ford Raptor in the super cab (extended cab style) configuration!
